Understanding the Permissions in Scroll

Understanding the Permissions Concept of Scroll

Scroll is re-using the permissions set by Confluence. By setting the space permissions, you can control whether users are allowed to export documents using Scroll.

In order to export documents from a space a user has to have the 'Export Space' permission. Please refer to the Confluence documentation to learn how to set this permission: http://confluence.atlassian.com/display/DOC/Assigning+Space+Permissions.

Additionally, Scroll does check for page restrictions. This means, that users may only export the Confluence pages they may actually view. Only users with "Admin Space" permission will be able export a page tree completely (without any restriction).

Permissions in {include} and {excerpt-include} Macros

Scroll supports the {include} or {excerpt-include} macros. These can be used to include a page or its excerpt into another page.

If a page uses and {include} or {excerpt-include} macro Confluence and Scroll check whether a user has 'View' permissions for the included page or not. If the user, who is exporting the document, does not have the 'View' permission the included page will be omitted in the exported document.
